My Bed is Already Taken
A projected, painted, and animated self-portrait made with more than 500 oil paintings on glass. Created for my senior show at St. Olaf College in 2014.
I remember carrying my box spring down the sidewalk to my campus studio. After making the bed, I laid under the covers and then carefully crawled out, using a mix of Mod Podge and water to fix the sheets. The box spring was mounted in a corner of Flaten Art Museum, darkened with movable walls. Speakers were nestled inside and played ambient night sounds. A projector showed the animation on a loop.
